I’m Philippa Charrier.

For more than a decade, I’ve been exploring how the environments we create - and the everyday habits they encourage - influence our wellbeing, behaviour and potential.

I'm the author of Student Thrive Mode and Designed for Wellbeing, and founder of FAT Properties, and a keynote speaker on student wellbeing and the built environment.

With a background in architecture and urban regeneration, I’ve spent more than a decade creating and operating student homes. That experience has given me a unique window into how young people actually live - how they sleep, eat, move, connect, study and cope when they leave home for the first time.

Today, I bring together design, psychology, science and real-world experience to explore a bigger question: how can we create environments and habits that help young people thrive?

This is the work I want my own children to benefit from - and the work I now share with students, parents, universities and the student-living sector.

What I do

Bringing together science, design and real-world experience to help young people thrive.

Books & Tools

My books, Designed for Wellbeing and Student Thrive Mode, turn research from psychology, neuroscience and human behaviour into practical ideas that can improve how we live, feel and perform.

Speaking

I speak at conferences, universities, schools, and industry events about student wellbeing, human performance, and how the environments we live in shape behaviour, wellbeing, and performance.

Designing for Wellbeing

Through FAT Properties, I put these ideas into practice - creating student homes designed to support sleep, movement, connection, focus and a genuine sense of belonging.
